Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating a SmashRating account, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use SmashRating.

2. Description of Service

SmashRating is a free, community-driven badminton rating system that allows players to log match results, track skill ratings using the Glicko-2 algorithm, and discover other players. The service is provided free of charge, without warranties of any kind.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to use SmashRating. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. Accurate Match Reporting

You agree to submit only truthful and accurate match results. Submitting false, fabricated, or manipulated match scores is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or permanent ban. SmashRating ratings are based on mutual confirmation — matches require confirmation from all participants.

5. Ratings and Rankings

SmashRating ratings are informal skill indicators calculated by the Glicko-2 algorithm based on reported match results. They are not official rankings and are not affiliated with any national or international badminton federation (BWF, BE, or others). Do not represent SmashRating ratings as official rankings.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • - Submit false or manipulated match results.
  • - Create multiple accounts to artificially inflate ratings.
  • - Harass, impersonate, or harm other users.
  • - Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the SmashRating service.
  • - Use SmashRating for any unlawful purpose.

7. Account Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms of Service, without prior notice. In the event of a ban, your match data may be removed or anonymised.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and software comprising SmashRating is owned by or licensed to SmashRating. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

SmashRating is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that ratings are accurate reflections of your true skill level. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SmashRating shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Service Changes and Discontinuation

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue SmashRating (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

11. Privacy

Your use of SmashRating is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Slovenia, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Slovenia.
